What is a coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are an extensive family of viruses that can cause disease in both animals as well as humans. In humans, various coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections that can range from the common cold to more illnesses evere such as Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) and respiratory syndrome severe acute (SARS). The most recently discovered coronavirus causes COVID-19 disease.
Symptoms
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and a dry cough. Some Patients may have pain, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and appear gradually. Some people get infected but they do not develop any symptoms and are not ill. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without the need for any treatment special. About 1 in 6 people who contract COVID-19 develops a severe illness and has trouble breathing. Older people and those who suffer underlying medical conditions such as high blood pressure, heart problems, or diabetes are more likely to develop serious illness. Around 2% of people who have contracted the disease have died. People who have a fever, cough, and shortness of breath should seek medical attention.

Why?
Washing your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water kills the virus if this is in your hands.

Why?
Covering the mouth and nose during coughing or sneezing prevents the spread of germs and virus. If you sneeze or cough while covering with your hands you can contaminate objects or the people it touches
Maintain social distancing
Why?
When someone with a respiratory illness, such as the 2019 infection, you cough or sneeze, project small droplets that contain the virus. Nap too close, you can inhale the virus.

Whenever you have a fever, cough, and shortness of breath, it is important to seek care immediately, as these symptoms may be due to a respiratory infection or another serious condition. Respiratory symptoms with fever can have various causes, and Depending on your travel history and personal circumstances, Covid 19 could be one of them.

Hotel preventive measures
- Employees who live in the hotel cannot bring guests. They must ask permission.
- Only hotel guests are allowed on the premises. Guests cannot invite others to the hotel.
- The restaurant and yoga and Pilates services are open to the public according to the health ministry of health schedule and following the precautionary rules.
- Meetings, groups or ceremonies are not allowed in the hotel, it is recommended strongly stay in your own space.
- The hotel recommends that guests do not leave the property to the extent possible.
- Reservation inquiries will be subject to the following questionnaire. Given the circumstances of COVID-19, could you please provide us with the following information
- Number of guests?
- Nationality?
- How many days have you been in Costa Rica?
- Have you had symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath in the last 15 days?
- Have you been in contact with people with the above symptoms in the last 15 days?
- Inviting others to the hotel will not be allowed. Do you agree?
- We kindly ask you to help by social distancing. Do you agree?
- Reservations will send guests before their arrival: Arrival protocol, restaurant menu, schedule and location.
- The staff has been informed through WhatsApp groups, written notices and staff meetings:
- Explanatory videos
- Preventive measures
- Action plan
- Our guests will be informed upon arrival of the preventive measures that they should have, the ones taken by the staff and who to contact.
- The hotel will be prepared with:
- Hand sanitizers in social areas (Restaurants / SPA / Reception)
- Masks
- Information displayed in rooms and social areas. This information is provided by the Chamber of Tourism and the Ministry of Health
- The housekeeping department will implement a more frequent cleaning schedule for the air conditioning filters.
- Cleaning staff will wear gloves and masks if necessary when working in areas social and bathrooms.
- Restaurant:
- All restaurant staff always wear gloves. Without exceptions.
- When the customer approaches the restaurant, he is offered helpfully to extend hands to spray the product on your hands before sitting down. It is mandatory to offer it.
- They must have the dispensers labeled and visible on the bar.
- No vendor enters the kitchen. The product is entered by the staff.
- If a technician comes to see the equipment (ice or refrigeration for example) it should be applied the product before entering. If he is ill, he is not allowed to pass.
- Only the maintenance group is allowed into the restaurant, nobody
- Anyone entering must follow hygiene rules before entering.
- Cloth napkins should be exchanged for paper napkins immediately.
- Finally, the salon workers must apply the product constantly.

when you suspect a case:

2. At the time of check-in:

- Have guest information and point of contact in case of emergency.

4. If you meet a guest who is at risk (Difficulty breathing, for example), call an ambulance and have the ambulance take the guest to Dr. Jorge’s clinic Gamboa immediately.
5. f a guest is showing symptoms but is not at risk, ask them to stay in the room to avoid spreading it. Remember that fever and dry cough are strong indicators. Ask the guest if they have eaten and what time they would like to eat again, explain that we will provide room service.
6. Inform the guest that a doctor will be notified and will arrive in the room within 2 hours.
6. Secure a communication channel with the guest and initiate a message conversation of text by sending the “Guest Steps” . From this moment, all the communication with the guest will be done through text messages and conversations alone with the Doctor. Do not give any medical advice, please leave it to the doctor.
7. Notify immediately:

- Dr. Jorge Gamboa at the local private medical clinic (8392 2228). Call in any time, the hotel has reached an agreement with the Doctor to be on call.
- Manager (Roberto) Share with all of the above guest contact information and point of contact in case of emergency.
8. The manager will notify:

- Emergency contact
- Group leader
- Retreat organizer (Tierza)
- Staff members
- Share with all of the above guest contact information and point of contact in case of emergency
9. The doctor will go to the hotel room to evaluate the case following a medical protocol defined by the Ministry of Health
10. Ask the restaurant to prepare the food (to be defined with the guest by text message) and put it on the balcony table outside the room. The waiter should leave and then notify the guest by text message to find their food. Meals should be served in disposable containers and staff should approach the room with a mask and gloves.
11. The doctor is required by law and will notify the Ministry of Health if he determines it necessary.
12. The Ministry of Health will come to the hotel room as soon as possible with a team doctor.
13. Samples will be taken and sent to San José to determine if it is positive.
14. If the result is positive, the guest will be transferred by ambulance to a public hospital or private.
15. Since medical expenses can be high, encourage the guest to activate their insurance.
